Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
who turned the rock into a pool,
the hard rock into springs of water. -Psalm 114:7-8
Yesterday, near the end of S.’s message about altering our altars for God and how David blessed God by dreaming up a temple for Him, the thought that we all desire to bless God became a revelation. Deep inside us is a longing to love Him with everything we are. I know in my lifetime there have been instances when I believed the lie that I could never love God the way pastors did or worship leaders did or missionaries did or the prophets did. The lies were that my heart was too heavy or I just wasn’t a passionate type of person or my capacity to love was limited by how many times it had been broken or that I was nobody special.
The same passion that drove Jesus to lay down his life for the very people who killed and resented him, is within all of us. And it is only His Spirit that can stir this up to its full potential of living a life that refreshes, quenches, and flows with joy like springs of water. He turned the hard rock into springs of water and can turn our hearts of stone into hearts that weep for the poor and the criminals, hearts that ache for the hurting, and hearts that cry out at the sound of His name.
