interpreting beauty

I spent my morning browsing jill bliss’s site. She’s an artist I’ve loved for years… Here are a couple photos from a drawing workshop she led in Portland where she lives now.  It was incredibly inspiring- drawing and coloring while lounging in the grass of a park, drawing in a cafe drinking coffee and digging into dessert, holding up a single leaf to admire its veins and translucent skin, and interpreting an already beautiful nature into another kind of beauty…

I ordered a set of ZIG colored pens from amazon and am super excited.  Today I drew about seven plump birds using them as canvases for tiny pictures of random scenes like a green alligator with long winding tail, yellow rain boots, and the red flowers on our neighbor’s porch that look like butterflies.
